Toga Hospitality Announces European Expansion
Press Release dated November 2005
|Medina Apartment Hotels, a recognised market leader in the apartment hotel sector in Australia, has announced plans to expand into Europe.|
A subsidiary of the Toga Group, an Australian company with interests in property development and investment, Toga Hospitality will open an apartment hotel in Copenhagen in December, 2005.
“The long term potential of this product in Europe is enormous, and Toga plans to create the first pan-European brand of up-market apartment hotels. Toga will continue its successful formula of investing counter cyclically to secure properties at good value throughout the different countries,” stated Allan Vidor, Managing Director of Toga Hospitality.
Mr Allan Vidor, Managing Director of Toga Hospitality, said “The Copenhagen project is a major step by the group and we are actively looking for properties in Germany, Scandinavia and Italy. Apartment hotels are a relatively under-developed niche in the European market and we will be focusing our high quality product towards both the corporate and leisure travel markets in major commercial centres, currently dominated by hotels with smaller rooms”.
The Apartment Hotels in Copenhagen, and other cities, will feature separate dining and living areas, full kitchens and laundries as well as separate luxury bathrooms and bedrooms. State of the art facilities including broadband, high quality TV and stereo systems will also be a feature in the hotels.
This project will be the largest apartment hotel in Copenhagen, with 128 apartments, as well as a restaurant, pool, gymnasium, meeting rooms and parking.
The apartment hotel site is being developed as part of the Nordhavn precinct, a new commercial, residential and retail precinct located only five minutes from the Copenhagen city centre and situated between the city and the prime business district on the waterfront. Nordhavn is an important area of the city as it will house the prime passenger boat harbour, as well as Copenhagen’s new ferry terminal.
Mr Vidor concluded, “We will use our proven, successful formula in all of our overseas operations – stylish apartment accommodation that offers hotel service, in central, secure locations, providing a private, flexible and cost-effective base for travelers either on business or leisure”.
